I guess you could say that tent camping throughout training camp had a few perks such as having your own space for your things, and no need for a fan to keep you cool, but on one of the last nights we tent camped something got a hold of me. I woke up around 2am rubbing my heel on my ankle and itching nonstop because something had woken me up. I thought maybe it was dry skin or just a real itchy bug bite I had gotten earlier that day. However, when I finally fell asleep and then woke up that next morning, I found that there was a bug that had made me more than just it’s prey. There were too many to count, but when I tried, I counted well over 47 little bumps that made their home on my ankle.
Itching nonstop during teachings and trainings I finally verbalized to the squad I needed some anti itch cream, or any sort of magic that anyone could have Harry Potter bring me to get rid of the itching. Seeing as by the time I finally asked I’m surprised I had any skin left on my ankle.
Adi Grace, my fearless & kind, heart of gold team leader jumped to the occasion and ran to get a small tub of green magic. She quickly grabbed my foot and started to apply the magic to my bites before I could say a word. I was shook, to say the least. Shook that someone would get near my nasty, life living feet, but extra shook that someone would TOUCH them and apply cream on them for me. It was literally the nicest, most servant hearted thing that I never would’ve even thought about. An act of service that far outweighed any sort of fear of feet or the dryness and cracked heels that came with them.
I went on and on about how much she didn’t have to touch them and that I could do it myself, I just didn’t have any cream. All to which she refused. I brought it up a few times afterwards for multiple days and couldn’t stop talking about how nice it was that she’d do that for me.
Fast forward a few weeks to prayer time, we had the fun opportunity to draw what came to mind as we spoke to the Lord, or about what the Lord is teaching us. & this is what Adi drew, a picture of her putting cream on my bug bites.
Her explanation was simple. We shouldn’t be shocked when people touch our feet and assist in aiding us no matter what the task is, or when they do nice things for us out of the blue. We should be so servant hearted that those things aren’t even a hesitation, but an instinct.
John 13:34-35 “I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
This is so sweet!!! I love you!
Kristin, I love this story! Thank you for telling it! Sounds like we could all be learning a great deal from your Team Leader Adi. She sounds WISE beyond her years! Also, she has a direct line connection to the Holy Spirit! I find myself being inspired by the stories you girls are sharing here. PTL!!!
P.S. So sorry about all those bug bites! EGAD!!!
