Guat Chapter 2: “Covid Positive”

Yeah... you read that right, my WR buddy & I tested positive for Covid yesterday and the past 36 hours have been nothing short of crazy.

Unfortunately due to the virus the YWAM ministry base we were partnered with has to shut down for 14 days due to protocol and we had to find a place elsewhere to stay in order to quarantine. It’s HARD to not internalize and blame myself for everyone quarantining and ministry coming to a pause. It definitely feels like I ruined Guatemala for at least 20 people, and that’s not a fun thought to float around in your quarantine brain.

Last night was our last night for now at the base we can now call home with the people who have touched our lives in a short matter of 14 days being with them. However due to my friend and I being sick, we had the privilege of tenting outside so we wouldn’t be in the same room as everyone else. Literal adventures everywhere.

After a long day and incredible leadership, we’re in an Air b&b in Guatemala, processing everything that just happened and crying over pizza. Well, that was just me, lol.

When I asked God why after the diagnosis, on that rooftop of all places, he stated the same thing he’s been telling me about Guat... “just go love people, Kristin.”

but God... if we’re stuck in a room for 14 days, HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO LOVE PEOPLE??

to which He said, “maybe you’re supposed to just love yourself. you’re my people too”

& to which I said another, “yikes”

... so here goes quarantine. stay tuned.
